"Designer Joe Nahem captured a different sensibility for a couple living in
Chelsea. The clean-lined, contemporary décor of the dressing room combines
bleached oak cabinetry with vintage furnishings. 'The clients are neatniks,
who requested an open concept for their tidily arranged, color-coordinated
wardrobes,'he says. Doors were eliminated, and a separate cabinet was constructed for shoes. Metal
pullout rods were attached to the closet edges for additional hanging space.
‘The top of an elegant, 1940 French Sornay table slides out and becomes a
larger surface to place sunglasses, keys, and accessories,’ explains Nahem.
‘Windows were treated with frosted glass to filter the light, and an Italian
fixture and recessed lighting provides additional illumination.’ Clever
storage options are concealed in drawers below the window seat, and inside
the upholstered ottoman."
